This page is designed to show prospective students what their first years as musicians at Wilson's might be like.

This year, in their classroom music lessons at Wilson's, students in Year 7 and Year 8 have:

Composed music using Sibelius music notation software.

Composed and performed in the African tradition using djembe drums.

Composed and performed in the style of Javanese Gamelan.

Performed popular music on ukuleles.

Composed music using Audacity sequencing and editing software.

Composed their own pop songs

Improved their piano skills by playing the Nina Simone's Feelin' Good and improvisations in a Blues unit.

Every year students in Year 7 and 8 have the chance to perform in a Junior Production. Recent musicals have included  Les MiserablesFiddler on the Roof, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Lionel Bart's famous Oliver!  Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS, The Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and most recently an incredible production of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying

In the Spring Term each year every student in Year 7 writes a Fanfare using Sibelius software. Here is a fanfare composed by Sam Smith

Our Year 7 and Year 8 students play a big part in our curricular musical ensembles and get regular chances to perform solos at department concerts. On this page you will find some photos from  recent Lower School Musical Productions including Les Miserables, The Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast.
