The music department aims to encourage every genre of music and Wilson’s students enjoy music making in a wide variety of styles. Popular music and music from around the world are an important part of the curriculum at every key stage. It is particularly strong in Year 7 and 8, where pupils learn popular music alongside music from Africa, Java, and Brazil.

 

Mr Kramer's Odyssey Big Band runs every Wednesday afternoon in the Recital Room.

 

Pupils throughout the school are encouraged to use department facilities to rehearse pop music. The best bands compete in the music department's Battle of the Bands competition and rehearse regularly in our practice rooms. From time to time, the best of these bands are invited to perform at other department events.
